Open the official Lagos Life game, read its account requirements, choose a starting background, and check your character's money, skills and work options before making a spending decision. This guide gives you a practical first-session route.
Start at the official game
Use lagoslife.app to play. Lagos Life Guide is a separate reference site: the tools here compare recorded game data, but they cannot create a character, sign you into the game or change your saved progress. Keep the game open separately when using a database or calculator.
The reviewed public interface includes a Create account option and an age confirmation. The official terms require players to be at least eighteen. Read those terms and the game's privacy information before registering. Enter account information only into the official service, never into a guide-site form claiming to unlock jobs or money.
Lagos Life is a browser-based social life simulation with careers, skills, housing and starting backgrounds. Start by checking your character's situation and choosing one achievable next action.
Choose a background with its costs in mind
The standard city start includes Nepo Baby and LAPO Baby backgrounds. These change initial resources and obligations, rather than simply changing a name or appearance. Read the background information before confirming your character, because an attractive opening balance can hide a very different source of funding.
Nepo Baby receives a substantial cash allocation, a Banking position, a vehicle and rent support in the reviewed city-start logic. LAPO Baby receives borrowed money, starts with a Hustle floor and has a skill-growth modifier, but also carries a repayment obligation. Borrowed starting money should not be treated as money earned from work.
Use the Nepo Baby versus LAPO Baby comparison for the recorded amounts and the limits of that comparison. The game also has a university path. Its separate conditions are outside that article, so do not assume that the city-start figures describe every available character setup.
After entering the game, check the actual money, home, skills and job shown for your character. An existing save, a different start path or a newer live build can differ from a recorded definition. Your current game display is the right place to confirm your immediate account state.
Check your first work options
The reviewed interface has a Jobs section and a Go to work action. Before starting a shift, compare the role's entry requirement, listed work location and schedule. A salary figure describes only one part of a career; it does not prove that your character can start the role immediately.
Open the jobs database and leave the level selector at Level 1 to compare entry roles. The table contains twenty-two career definitions, including one with a Port Harcourt work location. Switching to a higher level shows a progression target rather than an entry offer you have already qualified for.
Some careers have no recorded entry skill gate. Others require a skill at a specific level, and Oil & Gas accepts either of two skills. Product Management illustrates why entry and progression requirements need separate attention: Coding is its entry gate, while Charisma is its advancement skill.
Enter the skill levels displayed by your character into the Job Finder. The finder ranks entry roles whose recorded skill requirements you meet. Review the result in the live game before accepting work: the tool does not check your location, health, existing employment or account-specific restrictions.
Complete work before budgeting its pay
Treat the database salary as base pay for a completed shift. The reviewed payout logic also considers completion and modifiers, including bonuses and weekly tax. A listed wage is therefore a useful comparison baseline, but it is not a guarantee of the exact amount added to your balance.
Follow the live game's work prompts and check the resulting payment. Record how much money you had before and after a completed shift if you want an account-specific budgeting figure. Do not assume that partial work pays the same amount as completed work, or that every modifier applies to every character.
Listed workdays and start times use the game's schedule. They are not verified real-world durations. This site deliberately avoids converting a scheduled game hour into a real-time hourly wage. For an early plan, count completed shifts and compare the same role level across careers.
Use the salary calculator to multiply base pay by the number of completed shifts you plan to compare. Enter any tax or other deductions yourself. The result helps you test a budget; it does not simulate the game's full payout engine.
Record your first completed shift
Use this source-reviewed checklist to compare the guide with your own live character. These steps have not yet been verified in a logged-in playthrough:
- Note your current city, role, skill levels, money and any rent or loan obligation before starting work.
- Open Jobs in the official game. Check the actual entry rule, work location and scheduled day against the career database. If your role is already above entry level, select that exact role in the table.
- Follow the live Go to work prompt and its instructions. If work is unavailable, record the reason the game gives instead of treating a finder match as proof that a shift should start.
- After a completed shift, note the payout, displayed deductions, role and performance. Compare the wage with the database baseline; keep bonuses and tax separate when the game identifies them.
- Enter the completed shift and costs into a one-game-week budget. If you use the LAPO helper, enter the current debt balance and leave that repayment out of the other cost fields.
This creates a useful record of what happened on your account. A change in wallet balance can include another bill or event, so do not attribute the entire difference to salary without checking the game's payment messages. If a rule differs, use the report link at the end of this page to include the observation date and steps.
Protect your first budget
Check housing costs before spending your opening money. The houses reference shows rent per game week for five Lagos housing definitions. That period is different from a per-shift wage, so a comparison needs an explicit number of shifts within the same planning period.
For a game-week budget, enter that week's rent once and the shifts you expect to complete during that week. Include loan repayments and other planned costs in the appropriate calculator fields. If rent is covered under your starting conditions, enter the cost you actually expect to bear; do not automatically copy the listed rent as your personal deduction.
Keep a reserve for visible bills before optional purchases. The money guide builds this into a repeatable income-and-cost plan.
Make your next action specific
Once you understand your starting resources and one realistic job option, choose a concrete goal. That might be meeting an entry skill gate, completing a work shift, comparing a cheaper home or checking whether your expected income covers your next repayment. A small goal is easier to verify than an undefined plan to become rich.
The skills reference links each reviewed skill to the careers that use it. Train toward a requirement shown by the game rather than assuming every skill helps every job. For longer-term choices, the best-jobs guide separates entry salaries from advanced career pay.
This route was checked against public account labels and client definitions, not a logged-in first-session playthrough. Screen layout and live account behavior may change. Our editorial policy explains this distinction and how to report a mismatch, so the next review can address a specific action or rule.
